From a young age, like many others, I have felt very uncomfortable in healthcare facilities due to the cold atmosphere and appearance of the building. My research showed that light and color in a space have a significant impact on our emotions and behavior. Daylight, for example, stimulates the production of the serotonin and offers various health benefits. Colors like blue and yellow help us feel at ease. White provides a sense of calm, but can also feel impersonal and cold.
However, the way we experience color differs from person to person due to biological and cultural factors. Moving Moods consists of four colored glass objects: two with a screen-printed stripe pattern and two with a textured surface. Because of the adjustable roller blind system different colors and patterns can emerge. Combined with daylight, the space is adjusted to the visitor's needs, significantly improving the atmosphere and experience within the healthcare facility.
Simplicity in silicone
During my research about the properties of materials and how they can contribute within interior design it turned out that silicone is a very useful material. It shows that it is a sustainable material that can be used in different ways.
Its flexibility and water resistance make it a user-friendly object since they are unbreakable and easy to clean. The heat and cold resistance make it safe to use in different circumstances. Silicone can also be colored and translucent, making it useful in combination with light.
These three designs showcase how the qualities of the material can be used within interior design.
Een duwtje in de goede ruimte.
Due to space limitations after moving or changes in taste furniture is increasingly being discarded and viewed as disposable items. Fast furniture focuses on offering furniture as cheaply as possible, which also leads to a decline in quality. Repairing or recycling such furniture is often impossible due to the mix of wood and glue. My design is adjustable in both width and height, making it suitable for different spaces. With this, I aim to inspire people to be more creative with the furniture they already own. The cabinet can be adapted to your needs and preferences, instead of buying a new one. The sliding system eliminates the need for glue, making the design easy to modify.
