Selected for Class of '24 at Klokgebouw, Dutch Design Week Eindhoven.
Many people, including myself, feel uncomfortable in healthcare facilities because of their appearance and ambiance. Light and color play a crucial role in this. Different colors have different effects on our emotions and behavior. For example, blue is known to promote a sense of safety and security, while yellow evokes warmth and strengthens a positive mindset.
The perception of color differs per person. Therefore the design is adaptable and can be tailored to individual preferences. By adjusting the height of the glass panels, different colors and patterns can be created. The installation constantly changes with the daylight and environment. With this design I want to create a moment of peace or provide an opening for a conversation at a time when a lot of uncertainty and stress can be experienced, such as in an arrival hall or waiting room of a hospital.
