Indi Theeuwes’ design practice is rooted in ongoing research into the perception of colour. Through a process focused on experimentation and screen printing, she explores how colour shifts and interacts. Using an interplay of lines and layered hues, she aims to slow the viewer down, encouraging them to look closer and offering moments of pause in a world that moves with increasing haste. Through her work, she seeks to raise awareness of how colour shapes and transforms a space.
Her deep fascination with the impact of colour on our wellbeing originates from the lack of colour she experienced during a long rehabilitation period in healthcare environments in her childhood. This absence sharpened her awareness of how profoundly colour can shape a space and how strongly it influences our emotional and physical state.
.About me
I grew up in Breda, the Netherlands, with a love for drawing that started early on and only grew stronger during secondary school. Wanting to turn my interest for drawing into a profession, I studied Graphic Design at the Graphic Lyceum in Utrecht and combined this with Illustration. Along the way, I discovered a fascination for new media and techniques, which led me to the New Design course at the St. Joost art academy in Breda. There, I realized how much working with color energizes me, a fascination that culminated in my graduation project; Moving Moods. Nowadays, I love to work on various graphic design projects focused on colour, both digital and analogue, applied and autonomous.
